In early June in front of 135 family and friends, Limerick native Heather Lee married Waterford man Jonathan Sheehan in the Castle Oaks House Hotel, Castleconnell Co. Limerick.

The Meet

This love story started 2013 at a college party while the pair were studying at the University of Limerick. They were introduced to one another by a mutual friend, and what started off as friendship turned into a whirlwind romance soon after.

The Engagement

After seven years of courting, Jonathan popped the question on a beautiful sunny day in late July. The proposal took place in the lovely Fanore, Co. Clare, a place of great sentiment to Heather. While on a family holiday with Heather’s family, Jonathan decided himself and Heather should take a walk along the Burren, which ended in him dropping to one knee at the edge of the cliff and pulling out a marvellous ring.  Of course, Heather said yes, and the pair returned to the rest of the family, bottle of bubbly in hand. Unfortunately for Jonathan he had picked a slightly inconvenient time to plan such an event as there were more intense matters at hand for the Limerick side of the family to deal with; the Munster final. Thankfully Limerick came out on top, and everyone ended up having two reasons to pop a bottle of champagne that day.

The Wedding

On June 2, 2023, Heather was led up the aisle by her four bridesmaids Michelle, Rachael, Grace and Sarah to meet her soon to be husband and his groomsmen Alex, James, Ruairi and Daithi. Heather dazzled in a stunning A-line dress as she walked up the aisle to “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” by Elvis Presley performed by Treble and Bass.

Following a beautiful ceremony, the newlyweds shared some intimate time together by the riverbank in Castleconnell while taking pictures as they got a chance to catch their breath and really revel in the wonderful matrimony that just took place. The true bliss of the day was captured as the love birds began to head back to the reception and could hear the laughter and chatter of the guests as the Beatles “Here Comes the Sun” sounded towards the riverbed, perfectly capturing the “love, laughter and sunshine” according to Heather and Jonathan.

Following a fabulous dinner, the couple took to the floor for their first dance to “Something” by the Beatles as they and their guests went on to dance the night away. Their wedding cake was made by the marvelous Laura’s Baked Creations and Heather’s beauty for her big day was taken care of by the girls at Beauty Atelier in Limerick. They followed the nuptials with a wonderful honeymoon travelling the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

Heather and Jonathan attended the Munster Wedding Extravaganza (run by Brides of Munster) last year and sourced their photographer, videographer and cake supplier there.

How was your experience with the Castle Oaks House Hotel?

“The Castle Oaks was an amazing venue for our wedding. The staff were amazing to deal with and were so friendly and helpful. We had the pleasure of working with Martina, the wedding coordinator, who is truly fantastic at her job. The service provided was amazing, the food and drinks offered were plentiful and guests were so happy with the choices on offer. We were blessed with beautiful weather and had our ceremony set up and reception outside in the grounds of the hotel. The grounds of the hotel are located nearby the River Shannon which was ideal for wedding photographs.”

How was your experience with Tony Clancy Photography?

“Tony was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was the perfect professional, and he was also great at driving the fun and banter on the day. From the moment he arrived at our house he was great at getting everyone going, cracking jokes and making sure he got the best shots possible. He was great fun during the bridal prep and had all the girls laughing. He had great ideas for photos we never would have thought of and captured some amazing shots throughout the day that we will cherish for years to come.”
