Niamh Guiry & John Keogh

Niamh Guiry accepted the hand of John Keogh at St. Joseph’s Church in Castleconell Church in Limerick on October 22, 2022 in front of 150 family and friends and later celebrated their special day in style at the Castletroy Park Hotel.

The Meet

It was a typical Irish summer evening in 2009. Both Niamh and John decided separately they were going to go out on the town in Limerick and both ended up in the famous Limerick establishment The Old Quarter Bar. Their timing
was perfect. Their friends knew each other so they got chatting. John’s charm was too much for Castleconnell native Niamh to ignore and so the pair quickly became best friends, and soon after a romantic couple.

The Engagement

Niamh had joined her family on a few days away in Annascaul in Co. Kerry in August 2018. John came down a few days later to spend some quality time with them all. On the quiet he got Niamh’s parents alone and asked them the most

nerve wrecking question any person must ask the parents of the person they love, “is it okay if I ask your daughter to marry me.” With their blessing in hand, John suggested to Niamh, who works in the family business (Guiry Logistics), that they go for a walk by the waterfall. Not long there, the Limerick City native was down on one knee, asking Niamh

to be his forever.

The Wedding

On October 22nd, 2022 Niamh and John became man and wife. Niamh walked up the aisle, looking amazing in a lace floral ivory gown, with a v neck, diamante belt from Virginia’s Bridal, to “Storybook Love” (instrumental) while John, a

sports journalist with the Limerick Leader, waited with baited breath. They had the most wonderful wedding ceremony and were supported by their three groomsmen and three bridesmaids. Before joining their wedding guests at the Castletroy Park for their reception, they were guided by photographer Tony Clancy to take some amazing photos in the woods in Castleconnell. “Our photographer and videographer captured some amazing moments that we will cherish forever. It was also nice to have that private time on what was such a crazy, amazing day,” shared Niamh.

Their favourite picture was taken down by the bridge in the woods. “We were positioned under a large tree draping over the River Shannon; such a picturesque surrounding with the autumn colours and river in the foreground and background.”

Their first dance was “You and Me” by Lifehouse and their whole wedding day was infused with fun. Their theme was movies and tv shows so they ensured this was running throughout the day. It started with their wedding invitations and ended up on their cake, table plans, table names and even had something engraved on their wedding rings. “We also had at each table a movie-trivia game to entertain guests.”

Niamh’s advice for brides and grooms to be

“It’s cliché but don’t stress about the little things. Everything does all come together on the day. Also, try as best you can to enjoy the little moments when it’s just the two of ye as the day goes by so fast.”

How was your experience with the Castletroy Park?

“We can’t say enough about the Castletroy Park Hotel. When our original venue cancelled a few months before our wedding day, we were lucky to land with such a dedicated team that genuinely catered for everything we could have ever wished for. They set the room up exactly how we wanted and were 100% professional in each dealing we had with them. Could not recommend them highly enough.”
