Trini King, from Mitchelstown and Wayne Walsh, from Anglesborough (5 minutes from Mitchelstown) tied the knot on April 8, 2022, at Ballygiblin Church Mitchelstown, followed by a lavish wedding reception at the Charleville Park Hotel in Cork.

The Meet

School friends, Trini and Wayne have known each other since 2006. They were always great friends, texting non-stop, but it wasn’t until Wayne got his first car, a black Fiesta, after the leaving cert that things moved to the next level. “We started going for spins around the town and the rest is history,” recalls Trini, a preschool teacher.

The Engagement

After eight years together, Wayne decided it was time to pop the question, but, always the romantic, this part time farmer/ESB employee, wanted to make it special. “We have a tradition of always swapping Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. There had been a huge box wrapped under the tree for a few days labelled with my name on it,” remembers Trini. When the time came to open this big box, Trini was shocked to see a microwave box inside. A little taken aback, she opened it up to find, not an electrical appliance, but another wrapped box. For the next few moments, she was unwrapping more boxes (Russian doll style) until she finally came to a small ring box that contained their future together. When she turned around to look at Wayne, he asked her would she marry him. “I was in so much shock, I just couldn’t believe it! I remember being surrounded with what felt like a ton of wrapping paper from all the boxes I had to unwrap and being so happy.”

Wedding Details

Trini and Wayne had the “perfect day”, surrounded by their four bridesmaids and four groomsmen and their 230 guests. Trini recalls the fun she had getting ready on the morning of the wedding day, and it warms her heart when she relives dancing to, “Take my Hand” by Picture This. “The whole dance floor was full, and everyone was in such good form. I remember thinking ‘this is going to be the best night of our lives’.”

The bride stunned in an Enzoani dress. A mermaid style, figure hugging dress with a plunging neckline and a back to die for. “My dress was everything I ever wanted. I bought it in Diamond Bridal, Cork City. Grace and the girls there are honestly the nicest people to deal with. They go above and beyond for their brides, and I miss going into the shop for my alterations,” said Trini fondly.

Their photographer, Castadiva, took some amazing wedding pictures at Doneraile Park. Trini also cherishes a picture candidly taken outside of the church as they were leaving, where Wayne is fist pumping the air.

Trini’s advice to couples- “Enjoy every moment, especially the build up! And go with your gut; even if it means making last minute changes.”

Tell us about your experience with the Charleville Park Hotel?

“Kirsty and the rest of the staff at the Charleville Park Hotel were nothing short of amazing. From day one, to having to postpone, to finally getting our big day they were always only a phone call away and were so obliging to any request we had. The hotel was absolutely immaculate, and the ballroom was decorated beautifully. There isn’t a thing we would have changed or done differently.”
