School teachers Amanda Kearns and Martin Pierce, both natives of Limerick and currently living in Clarina with their two doggies (Benji and Baloo) got married on August 13, 2022, at St. Munchins Church in Limerick followed by a wonderful wedding reception with 220 family and friends at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Limerick.

The Back story

Both avid lovers of theatre, Amanda and Martin found each other through the Cecilian Musical Society when they were both part of the show “All Shook Up” in 2016. A great friendship blossomed but it wasn’t until they reunited their stage careers again for the musical “Chess” that they finally had their checkmate!

The Engagement

As engagements go this one is certainly a fairy-tale with a magical ending. Both Amanda and Martin really enjoy visiting various cities. While in these cities they partake in Geocaching (a treasure hunt where visitors find clues, solve puzzles and have a gift waiting for them at the end of the process). During a trip to Saint Petersburg, Russia in January 2020, unbeknownst to Amanda, Martin had arranged his own Geocaching adventure, based in the musical Anastasia, and at the end of it, Amanda’s reward was a fabulous engagement ring.

Like any good weddings, there will always be small mishaps and this wedding was no different. Amanda walked too close to an open candle, setting her dress alight but the wonderful staff of the Radisson were quick off the mark and got the spark out immediately. It did damage Amanda’s dress but thankfully her mam was handy with a needle and thread.

Amanda and Martin created a bookmark for each of her guests, which also doubled up as a place names. They also made a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.Martin, ever the romantic, created a surprise flash mob for his wife. “My favourite song is ‘Rolling on a river’ by Tina Turner, Martin, along with his friends as back up dancers, performed a lip sync to the song, starting with tearing off Velcro pants to reveal a sparkly skirt, a moment I will never forget! It was too funny,” shared the bride. Amanda’s favourite memory of their big day was the car journey to the hotel from the church. “It was lovely to share a quiet few minutes together with the roof down and enjoying a glass of bubbly and little chat.”

Amanda's Advice

“Try and find little moments throughout the day to sneak away with your partner to have a chat and check in with each other. When the bell rang for dinner we went up to our Bridal Suite for 10 minutes to take a moment before the rest of the night began and it was lovely to just take that moment to have a catch up on how the day was going.”

How was your experience with Tony Clancy Photography?

“Tony is such a professional. He was everything we could have asked for. He kept the day on track in terms of time and was so easy to get along with. He captured the day so beautifully. I didn’t even see him take a lot of the photos, they’re so natural. Tony had brilliant ideas including the smoke bombs which turned out to be one of my favourite moments of the day. He was so quick at organising our photos and ensured all the photos I wanted to get were done. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.” www.tonyclancyphotography.ie

How was your experience with the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick?

The hotel was perfect! The staff were so nice to deal with from the moment we had our wedding consultation there. Special thanks to Angela McCabe and Norma Casey. Everything we asked for was catered for. The food was fantastic, the His and Her reception cocktails went down a treat and the service was superb. The garden of the Radisson Blu was one of the reasons why we picked the venue. The trees and walkways created a gorgeous background for our photographs.” www.radlimerick.com
