Wedding Gifts for Your Bridal Party

Whether you like it or not (and you certainly don’t have to conform to tradition), gifting your bridesmaids, groomsmen, groomsgirls and bridesmen (or whatever label you want to put on the people that stand with you) with a special present on your wedding day is the done thing. Traditionally bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts are something they wouldn’t necessarily buy themselves, and they must have an element of timelessness about them. So, if you are happy to continue this tradition then below, you’ll find various gift ideas for your bridal party. You can thank us later!

The Girls

Jewellery

You can’t go wrong with a statement piece of jewellery. A beautiful pearl necklace, subtle earrings, an engraved bracelet. Every girl loves something blingy but two things to find out before you go on your shopping spree are, A) If considering earrings, do they have their ears pierced and B) are they a gold or silver (or white gold) kind of gal.

Caricature

How fun would it be to have a caricature commissioned of you both (or all you girls), frame it and gift it to your bridal party on the day. If you have some old photos of the two of you back in your single days, or if it’s a sibling standing with you then comb through your parents’ house to find a picture of you both as kids. This is a unique and thoughtful gift. Ralph McMahon Caricaturist can help you with this one.

Personalised gifts

Who doesn’t love a personalised make up bag or wallet. These can be very cute and will go down a treat with your girls. Or how about having their names engraved on wine glasses, a candle or even a sunglasses case. The options here are endless, so think about what they need and what they would cherish.

UGG slippers

They aren’t cheap – approx €60 but they are the cosiest pair of slippers you’ll ever gift someone and, let’s face it, most people won’t spend €60 on a pair of slippers for themselves so it could be a very sweet gesture. Team it with a pair of silk pjs or a gift basket of skincare and you are on to a true winner. Just make sure you get their show size correct.

The Boys

A watch

We really wouldn’t recommend buying any other kind of jewellery for your boys aside from a watch. Something stylish, but practical. Something that they will wear with pride and think about your wedding day each time they take it for a spin. Go that extra mile and have your wedding date engraved at the back of it too. Men don’t buy watches for themselves much so this will be a wonderful gift.

Personalised gifts

Just like we mentioned for the ladies, a nice gift with their name on it can go down a treat. Forget the hip flaks though, these have been the primary gift of choice for men for decades and they rarely get used. Instead, engrave a nice whiskey or beer glass that they can use at home on a Saturday night in front of the telly or an engraved leather wallet or cufflink holder. Socks, a tie and bottle openers are also great personalised gifts.

Cigars

If they do like a puff of a cigar every now and then you can order a vintage box of cigars that can come in a lovely wooden box (again option to engrave). They can keep them for years as a showpiece and, even if they don’t smoke them, they might keep it for their own house guests.

Childhood fun

Irish men (sweeping generalisation statement coming up) aren’t big into gift receiving but they do love a bit of craic. Why not get them something that hails from their childhood (and even better if both of you grew up in the same decade). Maybe a record from their favourite artist back in the day, a sweet box of their childhood favs, an old comic book, something that brings about some nostalgia that they will hang on to forever.
