Wedding Stationery Tips by McNamara Printers

Best Advice

Make an appointment with us in McNamara Printers as we would highly recommend that you visit our showroom. While here, get inspired by browsing through our numerous selections of stationery. We have an array of different sizes, designs and materials to choose from, which help and guide you when making your decision!

Which leads us onto – Spelling and Proof Reading

First off, we have pdfs of sample wording / text and timelines which we can email over to you! This will help you decide on what wording you wish to use on your Invitations! The process is very hard and mistakes can happen so easily! Get as many eyes as you can on your invites and booklets before you give us the go ahead to send your stationery to print! The team at McNamara Printers will look and check for errors, but things such as the spelling of names, mobile numbers and email addresses is something we may not spot as it’s pretty personal. It’s so easy to overlook a typo, especially when you have typed out the initial information! Our best Advice is to make sure you proof read, proof read, proof read! Please make sure you treble check all spellings, Eircodes, dates, numbers and emails!

Répondez s’il vous plait ( AKA RSVP )

It’s important to set an appropriate RSVP date that allows your guests roughly three weeks from the date of them receiving your invitation to reply. You don’t need to give guests too much time to RSVP as they might forget about it entirely. (We all have done it... received an invitation and thought I’ll reply to that next week and forgot to do so!) If you are thinking of ordering an actual RSVP Card, it’s popular to include it as an RSVP postcard (this cuts out on extra envelopes and extra costs). It is also a very nice touch to add the stamp to this postcard... it should speed up the process whereby guests may reply quicker. Another option is to ask your guests to whatsapp on a photo of the RSVP section! Lastly it’s always nice to ask about dietary requirements. Include a box in your RSVP section for guests to tick so they will let you know if they have any special dietary requirements, rather than having to contact each guest at a later stage.

Quantities - Order Enough and More

This is such an easy mistake to make! We can vouch that the amount of times couples have come back and looked for 5, 10 or 20 extra invitations, happens on a regular basis. At the start of the process it may cost you a little more on the initial order, but you’ll be so grateful for ordering a few extras. It’s very important that you have enough... all family members will want an official invite and if you are hand writing out your invites (and you make a small mistake) you’ll be delighted that you ordered enough from the get go. The spare invites always come in handy. It’s also nice to have a keepsake for yourselves. Therefore, when ordering, it’s not a bad idea to order an extra 10 or so wedding invitations to cover all

unexpected situations.

Wedding Day and Day Two Timelines

An important thing to add to your Invitation is a timeline of your wedding day (if you have space) This will depend on the style and size of invitation you decide to go with! You can also create a timeline and create an A1 or A2 sign (Foamex or Corriboard) so your guests, upon arrival, know the order of the day!

It’s such a good idea to include key points such as the ceremony and reception start times, along with other aspects of the day, especially if there is a gap between them. We have a selection of numerous wedding time line designs that we can email over to you, please just ask for these samples.

Be Clear and Precise

It’s absolutely vital that you clarify who the invite is for and what part of the day they are invited to. In fact, not giving your family and guests enough information on the invite is one of the things that’s most annoying to wedding guests. So make sure you are specific about each individual that is invited and what part of the day they are invited to! In addition to the standard information that goes on wedding invitations such as date, time and locations etc, maybe consider whether guests need directions to the venue (Eircodes are handy here!) transport details, dress code or any additional accommodation information.

Ordering Samples

For a small cost, it’s well worth your while to order a printed sample! Once our design team and you have

finalised your wedding stationery design it’s so important to see and feel your very own invitation... just to give it one last proof read and to view how the layout, design and colour scheme works with the material that you selected. It’s both beneficial to you (as the customer who get a sneak peek at your design and material) and also to us as the supplier. It’s very important to us that you as the customer are happy with everything! It’s a ‘Win Win’ scenario for all!

Last But Not Least... do NOT Forget to Order Thank You Cards

New Paragraph

Last & FINAL Tip

Depending on the time of year you get married... it’s a nice idea to send your wedding thank you cards out for Christmas. This way, when ordering your thank you cards, you can get ‘two for one’... Merry Christmas and a wedding thank you message onto the one card!
